Nine Years Later, Have We Learned Anything?

It has been nine years since the attack on the World Trade Center Buildings.  In some parts of the world, there was glee and jubilation, while we watched in horror two buildings kill 3000 of our countrymen, our loved ones, our family and our friends.

The following Sunday we saw people coming into churches like never before.  Some for the very first time.  They were looking to God and His representatives for answers.  How did we respond?  By sharing God’s love?  Of course.  By telling them about God’s mercy?  Yes.  By consoling them in their grief and pain?  Naturally.  The question that I have is that did we ever tell them that we brought this tragedy on to ourselves?

You may ask, “How can that be”?  “What did we do”?  To find out the answer, you have to go to oldest source of truth there is on the Earth – the Bible.  Genesis 12:3 says:

“And I (God) will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed”.

“Who is it that we have cursed”?  It is the nation of Israel.  Every we time we come against Israel, a curse has been put on out nation.  Consider this:

A “Land for Peace” deal was being planned in Spain on October 18,1991.  Two days later a catastrophic fire swept through the greater Oakland, CA. area with winds at 65mph and temperatures above 90 degrees.

The Land for Peace deal continued to November 1, 1991.  Two days later, “The Perfect Storm” hit the East Coast.  Waves as high a 30 feet smashed down on George H.W. Bush’s home in Maine.

Between February 18-25, 1993 then Secretary of State Warren Christopher,  visited eight countries in the Middle East to “jump start” the peace talks again.  On February 26 the World Trade Center was bombed for the first time.

During May through September of 1993, behind the scenes “deals” were being reached to exchange Israeli land for peace.  At the same time, the greatest flooding in U.S. history swept the Plain States.  From North Dakota to Kansas as far east as Wisconsin and Illinois where hundreds of levees along the Mississippi and Missouri rivers failed.

Bill Clinton sets up a meeting in Shepherdstown, WV. for Israel and Syria regarding the return of the Golan Heights between January 3-9, 2000. On January 4, The Dow Jones dropped 359 points and the Nasdaq dropped 229 for a combined revenue loss of 600 Billion dollars.

On October 2, 2001 George W. Bush said, “That a Palestinian state is “part of the vision” so long as Israel’s right to exist is respected.  The next day, the Anthrax scare in Washington, D.C.’s mail started.

During September 3-18, 2004 George W. Bush was pressuring Israel to leave its “unauthorized” settlements, Hurricane Ivan came ashore on Rosh Hashanah.  It’s also worth noting in the same time period, that a LGBT party called “Southern Decadence” was held.  Internet child porn and partial-birth abortion were declared constitutional in Federal Court. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law State benefits for domestic partners (gays and lesbians only) on September 12.

When Israel was forced by our government to pull out of Gaza on August 22, 2005, a week later Hurricane Katrina hit putting 80% of New Orleans underwater.

These are just a few facts that span over nearly a 15 year period. Tragedies that we as a nation suffered before and after September 11, 2001.  All of them have one thing in common:  When we as a nation come against Israel, God as a judge will come against us.  Fast forward to 2010 and there is talk from Barack Obama about dividing Jerusalem.  Zechariah 12:3 says:

“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it”.

It has been said that those who do not learn from history will be doomed to repeat it.  We would wise not to repeat the same mistake as other administrations did.  For if this does go forward and we begin negotiations in dividing Jerusalem, I believe God will start the process of dividing our nation.  In that day it will not matter if you are Democrat or Republican.  It will not matter if you are liberal or conservative.  Your country will be divided.  You could be possibly killed for your faith and when you stand before God and He asks you the question, “What did you do with the freedom that I gave you”?  What will be your response?

The choice is now yours.  Shall we wake up and change the course of our nation? Or shall we continue on blindly, and be reduced to a third world nation, socially, morally, and economically, knowing that when we see God we have no one but ourselves to blame.  The hour is very late and the consequences are that serious.  WAKE UP CHURCH!!! This could be out last chance!
