Repent or be Removed

America has been established by God as a world power. With that power comes enormous responsibility. As this nation goes, so does the rest of the world. Our influence as a nation has impacted and permeated the culture, psyche and governments of other nations. From the foods we eat, to cars we drive, to the way we do business – even how we worship. Our “fingerprint” can be seen in nearly every country on the planet.

Scripture says “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required” (Luke 12:48). Sadly, our culture have become selfish and drunk on the very power we have been called to steward. We have taken the privilege of responsibility and have turned it into a right. We in the American Church have become god in our own mind. We must learn to be humble and be selfless again.

Our responsibility does not stop at the four walls of our churches or even our homes. Our responsibility extends to not only how we treat each other and non-believers alike; but it stretches to the very seat of government itself. The seat of authority is created and chosen by God. Who sits in that seat is chosen by us.

When we as Christians who happen to be Americans, choose our leaders wisely, our communities, regions, and ultimately our nation benefits. However when the choice is made without any research on the candidate’s character and stance on the important issues of our day as well as our diligent consultation of Scripture, the end result will be a collision course with disaster to the point of possibly never recovering. Thus plunging our nation into chaos the likes of third world countries we only hear and read about, but never experience.

Since we as Christians in America are truly the barometer of this nation, it is time for us to stand, speak and ACT. Jesus Himself said, “You are the light of the world”. “A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid”. (Mat 5:14) Light by its very nature exposes what was in darkness. It is our sovereign duty to expose darkness wherever we find it – especially in government. For if judgment must begin in the House of God (1 Peter 4:17), judgment never starts from the bottom up. It is always a top down affair.

Before God ever pronounces judgment on an individual, community, region, or nation, God always looks for repentance first. The measure of repentance is always followed by the measure of action toward that repentance. If there is no action, the repentance was nothing more than a verbal exercise and holds little value. This is precisely the reason why leaders can not quote II Chronicles 7:14, and not have themselves and their congregation take action to hold their elected officials accountable for their actions. As I stated before, God did not put them in office. WE DID.

Jesus talked about the believer being the salt of the earth. He stated, “You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men”. Maybe this is why the world wants to stamp out Christianity. Let us examine ourselves and be honest: Have we as Christians lost our savor?

Salt Anyone?

Night Watchmen Asleep at the “Switch”

As we enter into the fourth watch of the night (the darkest part of the night before the sun comes up – as well as the time demons are active the most) I see the Church STILL acting as business as usual. A lot of leaders are talking about this “next move of God” as being really big, yet has done little to prepare the congregation for it. Moreover, they have done less than that to prepare the people for the battle that is about to come into our communities. We as American Christians are about to enter in a political and cultural war we are NOT prepared for. Yes we are on the “Lord’s Side”, however we seem to forget the Lord works through people. What people does the Lord have to work through when most of the people in government and media are evil? Since our leaders have caused us to abandon these spheres of influence, the devil is more than happy to take those over and promote his kingdom. This is precisely why good is called evil and evil is called good.

The times in which we live mirror the time of Joseph. Not in the fact that Joseph stayed the land from famine, but that after Joseph died there arose (elected) a new king (President) that did not know the God of Joseph. This king (Obama) not only did not know the God of Joseph, he did not know about where Joseph came from (Israel). He treats Israel like any other common country instead of the holy country that it is. Genesis 12:3 says: “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed”. Notice that America is not exempt from this statement that God makes. The Bible also says in Zechariah 12:3: “And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it”. Notice there is no exemption for America there either. This man is about to attempt divide a country and a capital that God says the land (and its capital) belong to the Jews FOREVER! His actions are going to bring a curse on to our own country and the Christian leadership response is “Bring it on”. You may be outraged by my last statement, but consider this: If I am wrong, there should be a cry of “Foul” in the Christian community across this nation. Sadly, what I am hearing is an eerie silence.

Always remember: You’re silence is considered your agreement.

Who Should be the REAL American Idol?

How sad and tragic that two well known world-famous celebrities died on June 25th – Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. What is even worse is that members of the Body would cry and howl like world would. Not thinking, knowing, or understanding that the reason why the world cries is because the world has no hope. This is precisely the reason that members of the Church can identify with the world because they are of like spirit. What I mean is this: We have celebrities in the Church – just like the world does. We mourn for our celebrities – just like the world does. The real tragedy is that we worship and idolize Church celebrities – just like the world does.

Which brings me to my point. We see that world has their American Idol. But who is the Church’s idol in America? When the average church member is asked who is your idol? Naturally they would respond,”Jesus”. The natural thought process would be this: If Jesus would be your idol, you would do whatever you idol would tell you, right? Jesus said in Luke 19:13, “Occupy until I come.” To occupy (according to Merriam-Webster) is to “To take or hold possession or control” Another definition is “To reside in as an owner or tenant”. In the arena of government, what area has the Church occupied? Where does the Church “reside in as an owner or tenant?

To the “theologian”, occupation is a spiritual term. If they would keep reading the text the cities that Jesus rewarded them in Luke 19:17-19 were not spiritual cities. Jesus understood that in this world, it would take not only prayer but money and a righteous voice to take possession.

Of course there is no one 100% obedient to Jesus. We all have struggles and “crosses” to bear. However, when very few in Church leadership is willing to step up and speak up – even if it means the revocation of their non-profit status, they are not being the salt and light that Jesus asked us to be. They are falling down and worshipping their idol – the government.

Since Church leadership is afraid of asking you this question then I will: Who is your American Idol? If its the government, stay where you are and do nothing. If it is Jesus – Take possession (occupy) of your government. Don’t stop at prayer. Take control in discussions, writing to your elected officials to hold them accountable. Most of all, make sure the platform of whom you are voting for lines up with Scripture.
